Escape to this sublime piece of paradise on our week-long itinerary to Sao Tome and Principe.
During this time, you'll stay at two of our favourite lodges: Omali in Sao Tome and the newly refurbished Bom Bom Island Resort on Principe.
As of 2025, Virgin Atlantic will start flying this route, making it more accessible than ever before.

Itinerary
Day 1 | Fly UK to Sao Tome
Depart the UK this morning either via Lisbon with TAP or via Accra (From 2025, Virgin Atlantic plans to launch a new flight from London to Accra). On arrival into Sao Tome Airport this evening (if flying on TAP), you'll be met and transfer to Omali Lodge for a two-night stay in a Premier Room, with breakfast included.
Day 2 | Sao Tome
See our Excursions section on the website for ideas about things to do on Sao Tome Island. You can contact our Travel Specialists to arrange a privately guided tour. For example, it's possible to explore the coffee and cacao route, visit the remote south-eastern beaches or even do a hike in Obo Natural Park's rainforest.
Day 3 | Sao Tome to Principe
After breakfast today, you'll transfer to the airport for your short light aircraft flight over to Principe Island. On arrival, you'll be met and transfer to Bom Bom Island Resort for your five-night stay, with dinner and breakfast included.
Day 4 | Principe
Enjoy beautiful Principe with the very comfortable Bom Bom Island Resort as your base. A variety of excursions can be arranged through reception, which can be settled by card payment (Visa).

Day 5 - 9 | Principe
The next few days are at your leisure to do as much, or as little, as you please. You can choose from a variety of hikes and walks around the island, whether to see the cacao plantations or waterfalls. Speak to one of our Travel Specialists about tailoring the activities you'd like to do while staying at Bom Bom Island Resort. If you're visiting between November and February, you might be lucky enough to see nesting turtles and, between July to August, humpback whales.

Day 9 | Flight Home
Today, you'll transfer back to Principe Airport for your 40-minute light aircraft flight back to Sao Tome. On arrival, you'll then transfer to Omali Lodge, where you'll make use of a day room to freshen up before your departure flight tonight. You'll finally transfer to the airport for your international flight journey home via Accra or Lisbon.
