Akosombo refers to a cluster of settlements on the west bank of the Volta River, extending for about 15km downstream of the Akosombo Dam. Attractions in the area include the Dam wall, the forested stretch of the Volta River and the chance to take a boat cruise on the southern section of Lake Volta. Akosombo is located in the Asuogyaman District, about 80km north-east of Accra and for tourists, it’s an enjoyable weekend getaway. Our accommodation of choice here is the Royal Senchi Hotel & Resort. Nearby attractions include the Wli Falls.
